Franks with Cranberry Orange Mostardo

Franks In A Blanket

This sweet cranberry and orange mostardo makes a perfect dipping sauce for our Franks in a Blanket.

Serves 4

Cooking Time: 20 minutes


  • 1 box of Parmesan Franks in a Blanket
  • 1 bag (12 oz.) fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • Juice of 1 orange
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • 1 tbsp mustard seed, whole
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine
  • 1 tbsp dry mustard, such as Colman’s
  • Sea salt to taste

Preparation Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the sugar, orange juice, orange zest, water and mustard seed and bring to a boil. Carefully stir in the cranberries and return the mixture to a boil.
  2. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries have softened and the mixture has reduced slightly, about 20 minutes.
  3. Remove the bay leaves and discard.
  4. Pour the wine into a large bowl and whisk in the dry mustard, then stir in the cranberry mixture. Let cool completely. Stir in the thyme and season with salt. Makes about 3 cups.
